crackling bread

I made a loaf of no-knead bread (DIVINELY soft and spongy inside and super crunchy on the outside). When I put it on a plate, it started to crackle, loudly and for a long time! It is so good! I made a huge pot of tomato cabbage soup with a homemade beef base. It goes so well with the bread!
